The 3 best areas to live in Mérida

Living in Mérida is choosing one of the cities with the best quality of life in Mexico. Its combination of comforts, security, history and tropical climate are some of its great attractions. These characteristics, without a doubt, are what have made this destination a powerful magnet for Mexicans and foreigners. Downtown: Paseo Montejo, Santa Lucía, Santiago and Santa Anita

St. Lucia. It is the closest neighborhood to the Plaza Grande. In itself it is small. It is home to the church of the same name, a small park, and dozens of shops and restaurants to explore.

Santiago. It is one of the oldest colonies to live in Merida. It is located to the west and north of Plaza Grande. In it are the ruins of the church of Santiago, founded in 1637, and a park that is the scene of temporary markets and the best music in the city.

Santa Ana. In addition to the church and its popular park, it is a flourishing art district, with several galleries and museums. There are also hotels, some restaurants, the old Archaeological Museum, and a handful of mansions built during the henequen boom.

Another area to move to Mérida, Yucatán, is Paseo Montejo, which is recognized for its history and beautiful architecture.

These neighborhoods are just north of Downtown, about a 10-minute drive away. All three are affordable with shops and restaurants. 

The advantage of them, in addition to being far from tourism, is that they are located between the Center and the north, which is the newest and most modern area to live in. Merida, and they are also close to the beach. Also, in these areas, you can rent old houses with pools and gardens at an affordable price.

Zona Norte, the new best area to live in Mérida?

The north of the city stands out for its exclusivity. You will find first class restaurants and it is located just 20 minutes from the beach and at the same time away from the Center. In this area are located the private neighborhood La Ceiba and the Yucatán Country Club, whose course was designed by the famous Jack Nicklaus. The rental costs in Mérida in some of these developments can start at 15 thousand pesos.

Finally, in recent years, the apartment towers begin to dominate the north of the city, providing its inhabitants with incredible views of the peninsula and becoming a great alternative to move to Mérida, Yucatán.
